We played to a small group of fewer than 20 people, with Ave Maria Choir's Felix Tie leading in the songs. Other than feeling slightly encouraged that the attendance level was a little better than the last time, I did not have many feelings during and after the Taize session. In fact, I was just glad that it was over and we did not suffer any major embarrassment by playing terribly. At that point in time, the post-event fellowship over supper was the highlight of the evening for me.
However, 2 evenings later, I was listening to a recording of our past Taize session from more than a year ago. I marvelled at how much better we sounded this time. We were coming in more confidently, and playing together more smoothly. We certainly have come a long way since then.
During this session, we welcomed the debut of our youngest member, Cassandra on violin, who is only 13 years old. We also had the honour of having Brother Surain, a final year Seminarian of Saint Francis Xavier Major Seminary playing with us on guitar.
I have been encouraged by the improvement we have made and this renewal of membership. We also await our sister-in-Christ, Lhea, to join us during the next session. I hope that these are signs of new beginnings for us and will usher a in a higher level of performing standard for us.
